These Air Fryer Radishes are the perfect low carb replacement for potatoes or just a fun way to enjoy radishes from your garden! They get soft and mellow out in flavor when roasted and the air fryer gets the job done in just 12 minutes!

My mama always had sliced radishes on the table during the summer while we were growing up. And they were always pretty enough for me try once per year. 😉

Raw radishes are definitely an acquired taste – a bit spicy, like biting into a clove of raw garlic, but nice and crunchy. These days, I love them with a sprinkle of sea salt or sliced thin and served over a green salad.

Cooked radishes are basically a completely different food. They mellow out almost completely and take on a texture similar to a potato.

Whether you’re cutting carbs, looking to eat a bit healthier, or just want to try new things, these air fryer radishes are a must make, in my opinion!

We keep it simple and season them with a bit of garlic powder and Parmesan, but I’ve seen people on TikTok tossing their radishes in taco seasoning and that sounds pretty tasty too!

Radishes– Small to medium radishes that are nice and firm are what you’re looking for. The leaves should be bright and green. Brown, wilty greens indicate your radishes are past their prime.

Seasonings- We use a bit of olive oil with garlic powder, salt, and Parmesan cheese.

How to Make Radishes in the Air Fryer:

Prep the radishes- Wash, dry, and trim your radishes. Then cut them into halves or quarters to get them to consistent sizes.

Season- Add them to a small boil then add your oil, garlic powder, and salt. Toss this all together to coat.

Cook the radishes– Add the radishes to your air fryer and cook for 12 minutes at 400 degrees F. Shake the basket halfway through cooking to keep them consistent.

Serve the radishes- Remove from the air fryer and sprinkle with parmesan and parsley before serving.

Radishes mellow out when cooked and turn into something that resembles a potato with just a slight kick to it. We love these as a low carb alternative to potatoes and they're the main reason we plant radishes in our garden every year.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh radishes
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon minced parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat air fryer to 400 degrees.
  2. Wash, dry, and trim the radishes. Cut into halves or quarters, depending on how large the radishes are.
  3. Add radishes to a small bowl with the oil, garlic powder, and salt and toss to coat.

Notes

Raw radishes have a spicy kick to them, but that bite goes away when cooked and they mellow out nicely. They soften up much like a potato and can be seasoned in a number of ways. It's been pretty popular on TikTok to season radishes with taco seasoning before cooking lately.

What if this old fogie doesn’t have and air fryer and is desperately trying not to buy one….can you do this in the oven?

Hi Pat! I’m sure you could roast radishes in the oven. I’m not sure on time and temp, but I’d search for a roasted radish recipe and go from there. 🙂
