We love make apple crisp in the air fryer, because it's ready in less than 30 minutes! Plus, we make these in small ramekins for perfect portion control.
Peel and core the apples. Chop into small, bite-sized pieces around ¼ to ½ inch in size. Place the apples in a mixing bowl.
Sprinkle the apples with the brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and salt. Stir to coat.
Grease 4 6-ounce ramekins and divide the apples evenly between the ramekins.
To make the topping:
Add everything but the butter to a small bowl and stir to combine.
Drizzle the butter over the top and stir to combine. The mixture will be thick and crumbly.
Crumble evenly over the apples.
Cover the ramekins with foil.
To bake:
Preheat the air fryer to 360 degrees for 2 minutes.
Place the ramekins in the air fryer basket and air fry for 12-14 minutes or until the apples are softened to your liking. Remove the foil and cook for 1-2 minutes more to brown the topping. Use a fork or knife to test the apples for doneness.
Let sit for 5 minutes before serving. Serve with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce, if desired.
Notes
We like the tartness of Granny Smith apples, but any tart apple will work well. Honeycrisp are also a great choice, but a bit more spendy. You may also bake this in an 8x8 baking dish, rather than individual ramekins, but cook time may vary.To check apples for doneness, insert a fork or butter knife into the center of the apple crisp. Apples should be tender.Store leftovers tightly covered in the fridge for up to 5 days. Reheat in the air fryer at 350 degrees for 1-2 minutes if you prefer warm apple crisp.
