These Sweet Potato Wedges have a delightful combination of smoky, spicy, and savory flavors and will quickly become a favorite snack or side dish in your home. They are cooked in the air fryer for optimal speed and crispiness.
Wash the sweet potatoes and cut them into wedges. Try to make them as uniform in size as possible, so they cook evenly.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, cumin, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Toss the sweet potato wedges in this seasoning mixture, ensuring they are evenly coated. Sprinkle on the cornstarch and toss.
Place the seasoned sweet potato wedges in the preheated air fryer basket in a single layer. You may need to cook them in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
Cook for 18-20 minutes, flipping the wedges halfway through the cooking time. The exact time will depend on the thickness of your wedges and the air fryer model. The wedges should be golden brown and crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.
Remove the sweet potato wedges from the air fryer and let them cool slightly. If desired, garnish with fresh chopped parsley.
Notes
These are so easy and quick to make but if you make a double or triple batch and freeze half for another day, they are even faster and great to have on hand. After seasoning them, place them in an airtight freezer bag. Pop them in the air fryer for 18-20 minutes or until crispy. If your air fryer is smaller, you may need to cook these in batches. If you overlap them too much, they will not cook through properly and the outside will not get that nice crispy crunch. These pair great with a garlic aioli sauce, either homemade or store bought. I love the extra garlic, creamy flavor. Ketchup or a sriracha mayo also taste great with these. You really can’t go wrong. I like to sprinkle a little extra salt on these right when they are done cooking.
