These Buffalo Chicken Pinwheels take everything we love about buffalo chicken dip (creamy, cheesy, spicy goodness) and turns it into a quick & easy appetizer that you’ll want to serve up for any game day, party, or family gathering! These also double as a protein packed lunch that’s ready in just 10 minutes!
Whether it’s game day, a family gathering, or you’re just in need of a good snack or appetizer we usually turn to some kind of buffalo chicken recipe.
For lunch, we’re loving our buffalo chicken sandwich and for snacks, we love these buffalo chicken bombs. As you can see, there are lots of ways to turn buffalo chicken into something tasty!
These buffalo chicken pinwheels, or buffalo chicken roll-ups, are the answer if you’ve got leftover cooked chicken. A rotisserie chicken or canned chicken works nicely for this too!
These pinwheels are so easy to make with simple ingredients. Just a couple of large tortillas, some cream cheese, your favorite buffalo wing sauce (ours is Frank’s!) and a couple other ingredients and you can have these prepared in no time. They are pretty similar to our cheesy taco pinwheels and crack chicken pinwheels which are also excellent party food recipes!
The air fryer makes the whole recipe even easier and the tortilla pinwheels crisp up perfectly on the outside when air fried. This recipe will make enough for about 10 pinwheels. You could easily make more if you’ve got to feed a crowd!

Chicken – You’ll start with already cooked and shredded chicken. This is a great way to use up any left over air fryer whole chicken if you’ve just made one, or you could just grab a rotisserie chicken from the store or use canned chicken breast. Just be sure to get the low sodium variety if you go with canned as the buffalo sauce is fairly salty.
Wing Sauce – We really like Frank’s Red Hot but you can use any brand of wing sauce that you prefer. Frank’s is pretty mild so most people enjoy it but you could use a spicier sauce if you want! You could also make your own. Try the homemade buffalo sauce in our air fryer buffalo chicken wings!
Cheese – You’ll need softened cream cheese as the base for this filling and you’ll also top it off with either shredded cheddar or crumbled blue cheese, depending on your preferences.
Ranch Seasoning – Be sure to grab a packet of ranch seasoning and not ranch dip mix. The dip is much saltier than the seasoning.
Tortillas – You’ll need a couple of large flour tortillas for preparing the buffalo chicken pinwheels. Look for low carb tortillas if you’d like to keep this low carb friendly!
We love how simple this recipe is and how much it makes! This is the ultimate party food recipe and you can easily double or triple the amount you’re making if you’ve got lots of hungry guests. Plus you can make the buffalo chicken pinwheels ahead of time and refrigerate until you are ready to cook and serve!
Step by Step Instructions:
Add the shredded chicken, buffalo wing sauce, cream cheese, and ranch seasoning to a large bowl and mash it together with a fork until it is all well combined.
Divide the filling in half and spread it evenly over the two tortillas all the way to the edges. Sprinkle on some shredded cheddar or maybe some crumbled blue cheese and then roll each tortilla up tightly.
Use a sharp serrated knife and cutting board to trim the tortilla edges off and then slice each tortilla into 5 pinwheels.
Spritz your air fryer basket with an oil mister or use a parchment liner and then arrange the pinwheels in the basket in an even layer. Air fry at 370 for 5 minutes.

Recipe FAQs:
You can keep any leftovers stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for about 3 to 4 days. The buffalo chicken tortilla pinwheels can be reheated in the air fryer to warm them and crispy them back up again.
These will freeze best before cooking. Place the pinwheels in a freezer safe bag, press out the air, and freeze for up to 3 months. Cook straight from the freezer at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes or until hot and crispy on the edges.
Yes you can! We like to serve them immediately while they are still hot from the air fryer but these buffalo chicken pinwheels are just as good right from the fridge! That means they’re perfect for preparing ahead of time for parties or game days!
Recipe Tips!
Make sure you start with softened cream cheese! If it’s cold from the fridge in a block you just won’t be able to mix it well. If you need to quickly soften it just run it under some warm water while it is still in the foil packaging. You can also leave it on the counter for about 30 minutes.
Low carb tortillas work great in this recipe if you’d like to keep things low carb!
