These Air Fryer Jalapeno Popper Mummies are a spicy, savory, spooky snack that’s sure to be a hit at your next Halloween party!

Many jalapeño popper mummies close together.

It’s spooky season and we’re here with these adorably creepy little Jalapeno Popper Mummies – made in the air fryer to keep things nice and simple!

These little jalapeno poppers are filled with a creamy mixture of cheese and then wrapped in strips of crescent dough to create these cute little mummies. The candy eyeballs are totally optional, but do add a fun little touch.

Dip ’em in ranch dressing or whip up a little bronco berry sauce copycat situation with some raspberry preserves. It’s a very gory vibe and the sweet flavor contrasts nicely with the spicy peppers.

These would go great served with our Air Fryer Mummy Hot Dogs too, another Halloween party food that’s easy to make and easy on your wallet! These Air Fryer Roasted Pumpkin Seeds are another great snack for the holiday too.

Ingredients for jalapeño popper mummies spread out on a white countertop.

Jalapenos – We use 6 large peppers halved and seeded for the perfect popper size!

Cream Cheese – Start with room temperature cream cheese for easy mixing.

Shredded Cheddar – Adds sharp, cheesy goodness to balance the heat. Use pepper jack instead for even more heat.

Garlic Powder & Onion Powder – Flavor boosters that make the filling extra tasty.

Crescent Roll Dough – The mummy’s “bandages.” Roll it thin and slice into strips for wrapping.

Egg – Whisked with a little water for a shiny golden finish.

Candy Eyes or Black Olives – The spooky finishing touch. Sliced black olives work great as a non-sweet option! Green olives would work as well!

If you’re not into spicy foods or you’d like an alternative for those who do not, try swapping the jalapenos for mini sweet peppers to keep the flavor without the heat!

How to Make Jalapeno Popper Mummies:

Add the cream cheese, cheddar, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt to a small bowl and stir well to combine.

Unroll the crescent roll and place it between two sheets of parchment paper. Use a rolling pin to roll out the dough to about ⅛ inch thick. Use a pizza cutter to cut the dough into long, narrow strips. Wrap each jalapeno in the dough, overlapping the dough just a bit to mimic a mummy.

Air fry at 370 degrees for 10-11 minutes, until gold brown. When the poppers are done, carefully remove them to a serving plate and arrange the eyes or olives on the mummies. Serve with ranch dressing for dipping, if desired.

Storage & Freezing:

Fridge: You can keep leftover jalapeno popper mummies stored in an airtight container in your refrigerator for about 3 days.

Reheat: These can be reheated in the air fryer in a couple of minutes or in the microwave!

Freeze: You can freeze these but they are best frozen before air frying. Assemble per the recipe then freeze until ready to air fry. You’ll need to add a couple of minutes to the cook time.

FAQ:

Is this very spicy?

These do have a little spice, but because we remove the seeds and membranes and add a bunch of cheese, these aren’t very hot. For more spice, use pepper jack cheese or mince the seeds and membranes and add to the cheese mixture.

Should I pre-cook the jalapenos?

It’s not necessary! The jalapenos will soften up well enough in the air fryer. We never need to pre-cook the peppers.

How can I quickly get cream cheese to room temperature?

To soften cream cheese in the microwave, remove the cheese from it’s packaging and place it on a microwave safe plate. Microwave for 15-20 seconds or until the cheese is soft to the touch.

Recipe Tips!

Serve these with ranch dressing or whatever dip or dressing you like best.

You may need to cook in batches if your air fryer basket is not very large. Don’t overcrowd the basket!

Wear gloves when handling the jalapenos to avoid the oils burning your skin.

Ingredients

  • 6 large jalapeno peppers
  • 8 ounces cream cheese room temperature
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 can crescent roll dough
  • 1 large egg
  • 12 candy eyes or sliced black olives

Instructions

  • Slice the jalapenos in half lengthwise and remove the seeds and membranes.
  • Add the cream cheese, cheddar, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt to a small bowl and stir well to combine.
  • Spoon the mixture into the hollowed out peppers.
  • Unroll the crescent roll and place it between two sheets of parchment paper. Use a rolling pin to roll out the dough to about ⅛ inch thick. Use a pizza cutter to cut the dough into long, narrow strips.
  • Wrap each jalapeno in the dough, overlapping the dough just a bit to mimic a mummy. Keep in mind that the dough will expand as it cooks, so don’t overlap too much. The pepper should still be visible in spots through the wrap. Leave a bit of space open for the eyes to go on after cooking.
  • Beat together the egg with 1 tablespoon water in a small dish.
  • Arrange the peppers in a parchment lined air fryer basket and lightly brush the crescent dough with the egg wash.
  • Air fry at 370 degrees for 10-11 minutes, until gold brown.
  • When the poppers are done, carefully remove them to a serving plate and arrange the eyes or olives on the mummies.
  • Serve with ranch dressing for dipping, if desired.

Notes

We like to serve these with ranch dressing, but a sweet dip like a copycat bronco berry sauce or even honey is delicious with the spice!
I buy a package of crescent dough sheets rather than the actual crescent rolls. If you buy the rolls, just press together the perforations and cut into strips as directed.
