You’ve probably seen the TikTok viral recipe for PASTA CHIPS and we had to get in on the trend with a spicy buffalo ranch version! these pasta chips are a fun little snack and so easy to make in the air fryer!
I’m not sure why it took so long for pasta chips to become a thing, but thank you TikTok for showing me the way!
I didn’t actually have high hopes for air fryer pasta chips the first time I saw a TikTok about them, but more and more kept popping up and if there is a Tik Tok trend, you know we have to try it! We found this fun to make, fun to try, and it was plenty good enough to make again and again!
Pasta Chips can be made in whatever flavor you like and served along whatever dip you like. I stucked with my tried and true buffalo ranch vibe and these spicy pasta chips are absolutely perfect!
Ingredient Notes:
Farfalle pasta – Ziti also makes a good pasta chip.
Wing Sauce – You can make your own buffalo sauce or buy a store bought one. For convenience and time we went with the store bought kind.
Dip – We’re big fans of buffalo and ranch together, but you could also use blue cheese dressing as your dip.
How to Make Tik Tok Pasta Chips:
Cook the pasta – You need to cook the pasta as the directions on the package say. This will entail using a large pot of water, adding a salt to the water and boiling it. Then add the pasta and cook for the amount of time on your package, then drain all the water away from the pasta.
Season the pasta– After draining the pasta, add it to a large bowl. Add wing sauce, and your dry seasonings to the bowl and stir it all together to coat the pasta in the seasonings. Some wing sauces are very salty, so I recommend tasting your pasta now and adding more salt if needed.
Fry the pasta – Spritz your air fryer basket with oil, or brush the oil onto the basket. Then pour your pasta into the basket and cook at 400 degrees F for 10 minutes. Gently shake the basket halfway through cooking.
Serve – Give these a taste and sprinkle with extra salt if you think they need it. Serve these up alongside your ranch or blue cheese for dipping and just watch them disappear!
Recipe Tips and Substitutions
Use any small shape of pasta you like! Alternately, boil lasagna noodles and then cut them down to chip size before air frying!
Feel free to mix up the seasonings however you like. Italian seasoning and grated Parmesan cheese would make some delicious pasta chips to serve with marinara.
FAQ:
As written, this recipe does have some spice, but it’s easy to make it more or less spicy depending on your tastes. Skip the cayenne pepper to keep these pasta chips mild. Add more to make it extra spicy.
Yes, gluten free pasta will work well in this recipe.
We like these best right out of the air fryer, after they’ve cooled just a bit. However, these will hold up, covered in a dish at room temperature, for 3-4 days.
