Our Air Fryer Ranch Chicken is a quick & easy crispy breaded chicken recipe made with breadcrumbs and ranch seasoning! It’s ready in just 30 minutes and perfect for weeknight dinners!

Our air fryer ranch chicken is a quick and easy homemade chicken dinner recipe that you can prepare and cook in about half an hour! The air fryer is the perfect tool for making crispy homemade breaded chicken.

We use a simple mix of breadcrumbs and ranch seasoning to coat the chicken breasts and then air fry them until they’re nice and golden and crispy! Just 4 ingredients and 10 minutes of prep!

We love to use the air fryer for frozen chicken products like air fryer chicken patties or air fryer frozen chicken nuggets, but the air fryer is also an excellent way to prepare fresh chicken, like with our air fryer BBQ chicken and air fryer shake and bake chicken!

We’re way more likely to toss chicken in the air fryer than to heat up the whole oven these days. So quick and convenient.

Chicken – We’re using boneless skinless chicken breasts for this air fryer ranch chicken! You could also use boneless chicken thighs or even chicken tenders for this instead, though you’ll need to adjust the cook time.

Ranch Seasoning – We love ranch flavor on just about anything but it’s especially good on this air fried chicken. It’s such a simple way to add lots of flavor! You can use any brand of ranch seasoning mix that you like.

Italian Breadcrumbs – A crispy Italian style breading is another simple way to add flavor to this chicken. The breading will get perfectly golden brown and crispy in the air fryer! You could also use Panko breadcrumbs here instead, or even crushed cornflakes or other types of breading are fine.

Egg – For coating the chicken in the seasoning and breadcrumb mixture.

Oil – Some olive oil or another type of cooking spray for frying.

We love how quick and easy this air fryer breaded chicken is! It’s just a simple mix of ranch seasoning and breadcrumbs but it adds so much flavor to the chicken! Plus, you can customize this however you’d like. See below for suggestions!

Variations:

Feel free to switch this recipe up by adding or subbing ingredients!

You can turn this into spicy ranch chicken by adding some red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper to the breading mix. Or use different bread crumbs entirely without the Italian style seasoning. Some fresh herbs like parsley, dill, or chives are another simple way to add flavor.

Garlic powder, onion powder, Cajun seasoning, and just about any other kind of spices you can think of are okay to use. Some grated parmesan cheese would make another good addition! You can mix it right in with the breading and it’ll get nice and crispy in the air fryer.

How to Make Air Fryer Ranch Chicken:

To begin breading the chicken, you’ll first dip a chicken breast into a shallow dish filled with beaten eggs.

Next, dip the chicken into the breadcrumbs and ranch seasoning mixture, making sure to fully coat the chicken in the breading.

Arrange chicken in an even layer in air fryer basket and air fry for 12 to 15 minutes or until they are golden brown and the internal temperature has reached 165 degrees.

Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving. See below for some suggestions on what to serve with this chicken!

Recipe Tips!

Slicing the chicken breasts in half lengthwise will help them cook through quicker and more evenly.

Coat the chicken generously with the breadcrumb mixture for the best flavor and crispiness. Use panko in place of traditional breadcrumbs if you really want things crispy!

Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket! Be sure to leave a little space between each chicken breast for air flow.

Serving Suggestions:

You can serve air fryer ranch chicken with a variety of side dishes! Here are some suggestions for serving:

  • Sauces & Dressing: This chicken is great for dipping in your favorite sauce! Try this with our homemade honey mustard dressing or your favorite barbecue sauce! And of course you can keep the ranch flavors going with homemade ranch dressing.
  • Roasted Veggies: Either air fried or oven roasted vegetables make an excellent side dish to go with this ranch chicken! Some air fryer vegetables or this bacon wrapped corn on the cob are great choices!
  • Salads: Pretty much any kind of salad is going to be delicious with this chicken. Top your green salad with slices of our ranch chicken or just serve it on the side. You could also make a delicious pasta salad to go with this!

Freezing & Storage Instructions:

You can store this air fried chicken just like you would pretty much any other chicken recipe in the refrigerator. It should keep for about 3 to 4 days in an airtight container. You can reheat it in the air fryer to make sure the breading crisps back up as much as possible.

This chicken can also be frozen for up to a few months in a freezer safe bag or container. Reheat in the air fryer for maximum crispiness.

FAQ:

Can I put raw chicken in the air fryer?

Yes you can! It’s perfectly safe to cook raw meat of any kind in the air fryer as long as you cook it through to a safe internal temperature. For chicken that is 165 degrees. Use a meat thermometer to be safe!

How do you keep chicken from drying out in an air fryer?

By not overcooking it! All air fryers cook a bit differently so you will want to check it and use a meat thermometer to get the optimal temperature. Chicken will dry out pretty quickly if you let it overcook.

Can I use frozen chicken?

Yes, but only if it has been thawed. Do not start with frozen chicken for this recipe!

Ingredients
  

  • 2 chicken breasts boneless & skinless
  • 1 tablespoon ranch seasoning mix
  • 1/2 cup Italian style breadcrumbs
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or cooking spray optional

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your air fryer to 350°F. Spray the basket with oil spray.
  • Pat dry each of your boneless chicken breasts with paper towels and then slice them in half lengthwise to ensure that they have uniform thickness.
  • On a plate, combine the ranch seasoning mix and Italian style breadcrumbs.
  • Crack the eggs into a shallow dish and beat with a fork to mix.
  • Dip each chicken breast in the beaten eggs and then coat each of them with the breadcrumb and ranch mixture. Make sure they are all evenly coated.
  • Arrange the chicken in an even layer in the air fryer leaving space between each piece for air to flow. Spray liberally with oil spray.
  • Air fry at 350°F for 10-12 minutes, or until they are golden brown and the internal temperature of the chicken is 165°F when checked with a meat thermometer.
  • Once cooked, carefully remove the chicken from the air fryer and let rest for 5 minutes before serving with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

Slice the chicken breasts in half lengthwise so they have an even thickness. They will cook through faster and taste better!
Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket when cooking the chicken. You may need to work in batches if you have a small air fryer basket.

    Do you turn the chicken half way thru??

      You can, but you don’t have to as long as you’ve sprayed both sides with oil spray. Flipping it will make it a bit crispier, but it’s not super noticeable in my opinion.
