We love the flavor and convenience of Frozen Sweet Potato Fries in the air fryer! These turn out crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and perfect for dipping in your favorite sauce with just a few seconds of prep work.

If there is one thing we ALWAYS have on hand in our freezer, it’s bags of frozen fries! Our air fryer frozen french fries are a very common occurence in our house, but I have to be honest…Sweet potato fries are my personal fav!

This recipe uses frozen ingredients simply for ease of cooking and taking away the need to plan. Today I had a craving for sweet potato fries and 20 minutes later, I was chowing down on these and a side of air fryer popcorn chicken.

We love to serve these up with a spicy mayo, honey mustard, ranch, or even a spicy ketchup. I’m a sucker for all things sweet and spicy, so spicy mayo is my go to dip for these sweet potato fries.

Don’t have a bag of frozen sweet potato fries on hand or you just prefer to cook from scratch? We’ve got you covered with these air fryer sweet potato fries, freshly cut from sweet potatoes and air fried to perfection. Or skip the fries altogether and try these air fryer sweet potato cubes!

Ingredients for frozen sweet potato fries on a countertop.

Sweet potato fries – We cook a 20 oz bag of frozen sweet potato fries in this recipe. We love the Alexia brand (not sponsored), but you should be able to make these with any bag of frozen sweet potato fries.

Oil & Salt – To keep the fries crispy you will need a little bit of olive oil, and for flavor just a hint of salt.

We love these fries with a spicy mayo dip! It’s just a combo of mayo + sriracha. Add as much heat as you like!

How to Make Frozen Sweet Potato Fries in an Air Fryer:

  • Air Fry – Spritz your air fryer basket with an oil spray then add the fries to your basket. Next, spritz the fries with some oil spray as well. Air fry them for 17 minutes at 390 degrees F. Shake the basket 2 or 3 times throughout cooking to help the fries cook evenly.

FAQ:

How long do you cook frozen sweet potato fries for in an air fryer?

You will cook them 15-20 minutes and you will need to shake the basket halfway through cooking.

My frozen sweet potato fries turned out soggy, what went wrong?

If your bag was previously open and the fries had ice on them, you won’t be able to overcome that in an air fryer. They may be a bit soggier than they should be due to the extra moisture. Otherwise, be sure to spray them liberally with oil spray and shake a few times throughout cooking. You can also spritz with oil again halfway through cooking.

Is it better to use an oil mist or non stick spray in an air fryer?

It is always better to spray your oil from a mister than a non stick spray can when using an air fryer. This is because the non stick spray cans have been said to cause premature rust in your air fryer basket.

Recipe Tips!

We like to serve these sweet potato fries with ranch dressing, spicy mayo (mayo + sriracha), or a copycat Chick-Fil-A sauce for dipping.

If you want to be sure your fries are extra crisp, you can also spray them with oil spray again after shaking your air fryer basket.

Notes

We like to serve these sweet potato fries with ranch dressing, spicy mayo (mayo + sriracha), or our copycat Chick-Fil-A sauce for dipping. Spicy ketchup, ranch, and honey mustard are also tasty.
We use Alexia brand fries, but any brand will do.
You can easily adjust the amount of fries you cook. We find that fewer fries do tend to get a bit crisper, but we regularly toss in a whole bag and just make sure to shake a few times during cooking without problems.
