Our Favorite Way To Serve Caramelized Bananas:

My kids could happily just eat a bowl of these air fryer bananas plain, but I love to use them as a topping.

Our favorite way to use these caramelized bananas is for breakfast.

A cup of air fryer bananas with a spoon in it.

We start with a simple bowl of oatmeal, top it with a big dollop of Green yogurt, pile on the air fryer bananas, and then drizzle it with warmed peanut butter.

This is a simple breakfast that you can have ready in about 10 minutes, but it tastes and feels like a special treat. Plus, it’s quite filling and sticks with ya til lunch.

Ingredient Notes:

Fried banana ingredients on a countertop.

Banana – You’ll want a ripe banana, but not one that is too browned. If it’s too soft, it will be harder to work with.

Brown Sugar– Bananas are naturally sweet, but we’re adding a touch of brown sugar to coat the bananas before air frying them. Adds the best flavor!

Cinnamon – You could skip this, but we love the warm flavor it adds.

How to make:

Collage of the steps of cooking air fryer bananas.

Prep the bananas– Peel the bananas and then slice them into 1/2″ thick rounds. Melt your butter in the microwave then add the banana brown sugar, and cinnamon to the butter. Toss the bananas to coat.

Air fry the bananas – Arrange the bananas in an oiled air fryer basket and air fry for 4 minutes at 400 degrees F.

FAQ:

What is the proper way to peel a banana?

Most people peel bananas from the little stem where all the bananas connect to each other, and to the tree. This is incorrect though. We learn from nature that it is easier and better to peel the banana from the opposite end. Give it a try!

Will this recipe dehydrate the bananas?

Nope, that is not the goal here. We are just trying to make the bananas a little sweeter.

How do I serve air fryer bananas?

You can serve them with cereal or oatmeal, Greek yogurt, and a little warmed peanut butter! You can also serve them as is, hot from the air fryer, or at room temp after they are air fried. These make a delicious topping for ice cream and other desserts as well.
