Our AIR FRYER CHICKEN FAJITAS are an easy 15 minute recipe loaded with seasoned chicken, tender veggies, and major flavor! Season everything with our simple fajita seasoning and toss in the air fryer for tasty fajitas in minutes!
I order steak or chicken fajitas just about every time we visit our local Mexican restaurant.
Loading up those tortillas with strips of seasoned meat and veggies, layering on the toppings (I’ll take all of them please), and digging right in is just a good time, y’all. You can’t beat fajitas!
Making fajitas at home just got a whole lot easier thanks to the air fryer.
You literally just mix up your seasoning, sprinkle it over the chicken and veggies, and then toss it all into the air fryer basket at the same time.
Everything comes out perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned, and perfectly ready to devour.
Ingredient Notes:
Chicken – We prefer chicken breasts, but thighs would also work just fine.
Veggies – We use both red and green bell peppers in our fajitas. These will be sliced into strips alongside the onion. We like red onion for fajitas, but any variety will do.
Seasonings – We quickly combing chili powder, cumin, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, sugar, and cayenne to make a fajita seasoning. You can use a packet if that’s simpler for you, but we think our fajita seasoning blend is top notch.
How to make air fryer chicken fajitas:
Prep Work– Slice your chicken into thin strips. Add this chicken to a large mixing bowl. Next cut both of your peppers and your onion into long strips and add this to the same bowl with the chicken.
Season your fajitas – Drizzle some oil over the chicken and veggies in the bowl and toss to coat. Then add each of your seasonings to a separate small bowl and stir to combine all those. You could also use a packet of fajita seasoning, but we really love our homemade blend.
Sprinkle the dry seasonings over your peppers and chicken in the large bowl. Stir this to bring it all together.
Cook the fajitas – Brush or spritz oil onto your air fryer basket. Add your chicken and veggies to the basket and cook at 390 degrees F for 15 minutes. Shake your basket every 5 minutes to keep things from sticking.
Fajita Toppings:
We love to make these fajitas and serve them with a wide variety of toppings so that everyone can build their perfect dinner.
Some of our favorite toppings include:
- Sliced Avocado
- Keto Guacamole
- Restaurant Style Salsa
- Shredded Cheese
- Crumbled Queso Fresco
- Homemade Queso
- Pico de Gallo
- Shredded Lettuce
- Black Olives
FAQ’s:
Yes, fajitas are traditionally served with a side of tortillas that you can fill yourself at the table, using whatever toppings you like. We also enjoy making fajitas low carb by skipping the tortilla, dumping all the toppings over the pile of fajitas, and eating with a fork.
While either variety will work, fajitas are traditionally served with flour tortillas. Use whichever you prefer though.
