What Readers Say About This Recipe:

“When doing frozen burgers on the grill it’s difficult to get them just to the perfect point of juiciness and done.

Using the air fryer makes PERFECT burgers every time.” – Jim

For the burgers, it is no different. The air fryer will thaw out the meat and cook it. All you have to do is flip the burger one time, add a little seasoning, and you will have a burger just as good as anything you would cook on your grill or in your skillet!

Frozen burgers in the air fryer have saved dinner for us on multiple occasions! You’re going to love this one!

Ingredient Notes:

Cheeseburger ingredients spread out on a countertop.

Frozen hamburger patties– Our recipe makes two burgers using 1/3 lb patties. You can make more or less burgers, just be sure to place them in a single layer in the air fryer.

Cheese– Totally optional, but we always put cheese on our burgers! American, cheddar, provolone, and pepper jack are all good choices.

How to Make Frozen Burgers in an Air Fryer:

Step 1: Put the frozen patties in your air fryer basket and cook for 6 minutes at 380 degrees F.

Step 2: After 6 minutes, open the basket and season the burgers. Flip and season the other side. We’re using Kinder’s Buttery Burger Blend, but any burger seasoning you like will work well here.

Recipe Tips!

We’re using Kinder’s Buttery Burger Blend, but any burger seasoning you like will work well here.

Two cheeseburgers in an air fryer basket.

Step 3: Continue cooking the burgers for 5 more minutes, still at 380 degrees F. The burgers should be done at this point, but check them to be sure they are done to your liking. We use a meat thermometer and this is our favorite. It’s magnetic so it sticks right on the fridge and you never lose it.

Step 4: Turn your air fryer off and place a slice of cheese on your burgers. Close the air fryer basket and let sit for one minute. The heat remaining in the air fryer will melt the cheese for you!

FAQ:

What kind of burger seasoning blend do you use?

We use Kinder’s Butter Burger seasoning, but any seasoning you prefer will work well here. Feel free to adjust the amounts to suit your tastes.

My air fryer was starting to smoke while I was making these. What is happening?

Not all frozen patties are created equal. Some are fattier than others, this will potentially make excess grease. This shouldn’t happen with most brands of patties, but if it does you can add a couple of slices of bread under your basket to absorb the grease while it is cooking.

How can I be sure my burger is done?

Use a meat thermometer and check the center of the patty. It should be 160 degrees for a well-done burger, but some people prefer their burgers at 145 degrees for medium rare.
