Cook your frozen chicken patties in the air fryer for the easiest fried chicken sandwich yet! It is faster to make these yourself than it is to go to a fast food restaurant to get one and they’re every bit as tasty.
My kids and I are obsessed with chicken sandwiches and we make sure to test out every new sandwich from every restaurant around. We’ve been loving the chicken sandwich wars going on for the last year or two. 😉
Of course, we don’t want to be hitting up the drive-thru every time we need a chicken sandwich fix, so we resort to the frozen stuff for quick lunches and easy dinners every now and then.
Keeping a package of frozen chicken patties in the freezer can be a lifesaver on busy nights or those days when you’re d-o-n-e and don’t feel like cooking.
And, thanks to the air fryer, these turn out crispy and freshly fried tasting. No floppy microwaved chicken patties here!
We serve these up with our air fryer frozen french fries or even air fryer waffle fries and the kids are in heaven!
Ingredient Notes:
Frozen Chicken Patties – This recipe is for precooked, frozen chicken patties. Ours were breaded and were pretty thin. We bought Tyson frozen patties for this recipe. But that doesn’t matter, you can use any brand you want. The spicy variety is my favorite.
Hamburger Buns – Again, any hamburger bun would work. We love the cheap ones from the grocery store as they fit the patties the best. Plus, we are going for a quick, easy, budget-friendly meal with this one.
Toppings – You do you. My go-to is mayo, lettuce, and tomato. My kids like mayo and pickles. Sometimes we add a slice of cheese. There’s really no wrong answer.
How to Air Fry Frozen Chicken Patties:
Use a pump spray bottle to mist oil into your air fryer basket. If you don’t have a mister, you can instead brush the oil onto the basket.
Put your still frozen patties in the air fryer basket and spritz them with an oil mist, or again, brush a little bit of oil onto them. This isn’t strictly necessary – you can skip the oil on the chicken patty. We just like that it crisps up the breading a bit more and makes it taste more like it was just fried.
Air fryer them at 400 degrees F for 8 minutes and flip them halfway through the cooking. If you like them a little more well done, add two more minutes of cook time.
Cook your chicken perfectly every time!
Cook your chicken to an internal temperature of 165 degrees F before serving. This temperature is safe to eat and also leaves you with a tender, juicy piece of chicken! Get your hands on a meat thermometer if you don’t already have one, they are an essential tool for your kitchen!
Meat Thermometer
We use and love this ThermoPro meat thermometer anytime we’re making chicken, steak, or pork chops! It’s the easiest way to ensure meat is cooked to the perfect temperature every time and is a great gift for beginner cooks too!
FAQ:
The main ingredient in chicken patties is chicken, followed by flour and spices for the breading. We like Tyson’s brand because they’re made with all-natural ingredients. Different brands will vary.
Every brand is different, so we recommend checking the package for storage instructions. We store our chicken patties in the freezer for months at a time with no issue.
Whip up a spicy sauce to top your chicken patty! Mayo, cayenne, and a few spices like garlic and onion powder can really kick things up. Just stir it all together to taste.
