We’ve all had our fair share of dry, boring pork in our lives right? I mean, I dunno about you, but dry, overcooked pork chops have happened often enough in my life that I actually thought I didn’t like pork!

Once I figured out that properly cooked pork is tender, moist, juicy, flavorful…well…it’s game on. We love pork in this house and this air fryer pork tenderloin is no different!

A few other favorites include air fryer bacon, air fryer brats, and air fryer boneless pork chops.

This pork tenderloin, though? Pure magic.

The meat is so perfectly cooked – tender and moist – and the garlic butter topping is absolute perfection.

Ingredient Notes:

Ingredients for pork tenderloin spread out on a countertop.

Pork tenderloin – Take care not to accidentally buy pork loin, this is a common mistake. That is a different cut of meat and not what this recipe is intended for. The package will spell out the entire phrase “tenderloin” on it.

Seasoning – We’re using Italian seasoning on the pork as well as making a simple garlic butter to drizzle on after cooking!

Seasoned, raw pork tenderloin in an air fryer basket.

Cook the pork – Place the pork in your air fryer and cook for 20 minutes flipping halfway through. Using a meat thermometer, verify the internal temp of the pork is over 145 degrees and remove. Cook longer if necessary!

Make the garlic butter– Stir together melted butter, garlic, onion powder, and parsley. Then pour this garlic butter mixture over the pork.

FAQ:

What is the difference between pork loin and pork tenderloin?

The pork tenderloin is a long, narrow, boneless cut of pork from the backbone. A pork loin is wider and flatter and can come bone in or boneless. Pork tenderloin is more tender than pork loin.

Do I need to remove the fat from the tenderloin before cooking?

Pork tenderloin is a lean cut of meat and no fat should need removed from the meat before cooking.

How long does it take to cook pork tenderloin?

In a 375 degree oven, it will take between 30 and 40 minutes to cook a pork tenderloin. In a 375 degree air fryer, it only takes about 20 minutes to cook.

Can tenderloin be pink on the inside?

For the best flavor and texture, pork tenderloin should be cooked to between 145 and 150 degrees. This will leave just a bit of pink in the center. Tough, dry pork comes from overcooking and we recommend cooking to 145 degrees, followed by a 5 minute rest.

What to serve with pork tenderloin:

Pork tenderloin goes perfect with our air fryer butternut squash, air fryer green bean casserole, or air fryer frozen broccoli.

Don’t want to use the air fryer for your side dishes? Try this grilled okra or Parmesan squash as a side.

Safety Note:

Be sure to verify the internal temp of the tenderloin is above 145 degrees F before you stop cooking.

It was wonderful, but took more like 32 minutes. When you say to put the tenderloin in the basket and cook, etc., do you cook it as air fryer or air roast. I cooked it as air fryer.

Hi Claire! Glad you enjoyed the recipe. All air fryers cook a bit differently, but with the 5 minute preheat and 5 minute rest, this only takes us about 20 minutes…of course a different size piece of meat and different air fryer will affect that a bit though. We cook on the air fry setting.

Which method of cooking do you use on the air fryer? Air Fry, Bake, Roast?

I goofed, I bought a pork loin filet. Do I cook it the same way as a tenderloin?

I would guess that will cook the same, though may take a bit different time if it’s thicker/thinner than a tenderloin.

This is the best Pork Tenderloin I have ever made. Thank you so much for such a great recipe; I made two so I had to extend the cook time 2 minutes on each side. Happy New Year!
