How to Make Frozen Hashbrowns In Air Fryer

by Karly

Making FROZEN HASHBROWNS IN THE AIR FRYER is super easy and you get a nice, crispy hashbrown in just a few minutes!

Two hasbrowns on a small black plate.

I must confess something about my kitchen habits. I abuse my air fryer. I do this regularly.

The air fryer is supposed to be like a super-efficient oven, or an oil-free frying device.

Sometimes though, that is way too classy for my air fryer. I can’t have my air fryer getting all high and mighty on me. So I need to put it in its place. I do this by treating it as the worst appliance in any kitchen.

Yes, that’s right. I use it to cook frozen foods and heat up leftovers. Just so it remembers who the boss is.

I get all my joy out of this when I get to enjoy a well-cooked, evenly heated, crisp dish from my air fryer.

That is exactly what I did with these frozen hashbrowns. They’re just a frozen patty that I tossed in the air fryer, but they came out so delicious! Crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside like a perfectly cooked potato, and I got to remind my air fryer that it’s not too good for frozen foods along the way. 😉

Our air fryer frozen french fries, air fryer frozen chicken nuggets, and air fryer tater tots are also good examples of ‘blah’ frozen food turned totally delicious thanks to the air fryer!

Ingredient Notes:

Frozen hashbrowns – We use frozen hashbrown patties in this recipe, not “loose” hashbrowns. These are the kind like McDonald’s sells, but somehow better!

How to Cook Frozen Hashbrowns In an Air Fryer:

A few cooked hashbrowns in an air fryer basket.

Turn up the heat – Spritz your air fryer basket with oil, or brush it on if you don’t have a mister. Place your hashbrowns in a single even layer in your air fryer basket. Cook at 400 degrees F for 5 minutes. Then flip your hashbrowns and cook for five more minutes.

Four hashbrowns spread out in an air fryer basket.

Do I need to thaw the hashbrowns before cooking?

Nope! Just throw the frozen patties in the air fryer.
