Recipe Tips!
Avoid cooking at temps much higher than 380 degrees or you’ll run the risk of causing the chicken sausages to burst! You can poke the sides of the sausage a couple time with a fork to allow it to vent a bit and prevent a burst but this could cause a split and you will lose some of the juices.
Freezing & Storage Instructions:
If you’ve got leftovers store it in an airtight container in your refrigerator for 3-4 days. The air fried chicken sausage can be reheated in the air fryer, the oven, or the microwave.
While you could freeze the cooked chicken sausages, we think it’s tastes best to cook them fresh when you’re ready to enjoy them. Freeze the sausages before cooking, thaw them in the fridge overnight, and cook as directed.
Serving Suggestions:
Try these chicken sausages alongside some of our easy air fryer vegetables. Some bell peppers are always a good choice to go with sausage, and green beans are another good one. It’s a quick and simple dinner or launch. These air fryer roasted sweet potatoes would also pair very nicely with the chicken sausage.

They’ll go well sliced up with just about any pasta dish or you can even just serve them on a bun like a hot dog! Top with a little barbecue sauce and coleslaw for somethin different.
If you’re serving these for breakfast they’d go great with our air fryer biscuits or air fryer french toast and some air fryer hash browns.
Recipe FAQs:
We’re starting with refrigerated chicken sausages that have been smoked and are therefore fully cooked. They’ll take around 10 minutes in the air fryer to warm through and to crisp up the outsides. If you’re using frozen chicken sausages, you may need to increase the cook time a bit.
Cooking sausages in casings at too high of a temperature can cause them to burst. Follow our recipe to be sure the sausages don’t burst. You could also pierce the sausage a few times with a fork to help release some of the juices, but that can also cause splitting.
Most packaged chicken sausages will come fully cooked and just need heated. If you’re purchasing chicken sausage from the butcher, you may be able to find it raw, however the cook times will vary here and you’ll want to ensure the internal temperature of the sausage reaches 165 degrees.
