It is so easy to make air fryer green beans and it only takes 10 MINUTES! You are basically roasting them in a smaller oven with lots of airflow. We toss these in a little Parmesan and garlic and then squeeze fresh lemon juice over the top before serving.
Green beans are a dividing topic in our family of four. Two of us love green beans, and two of us hate green beans.
So when the two of us who love green beans get a craving, we want it to be quick and easy, and what is quicker or easier than 10 minutes in the air fryer for PERFECT fresh green beans every time?
No preheating the oven, no wasted energy heating up the big oven, minimal clean-up, and I get to use my favorite appliance…what’s not to love?
The reward for me is a tender crisp green bean seasoned just the way I like it!
Ingredient Notes:
Green Beans – You’ll want to use fresh green beans for this recipe. Trim off the ends before cooking.
Parmesan Cheese – I’m all about freshly shredded cheese, but in this instance, the powdery Parmesan in the green can is the way to go. It’s so finely grated that it gives the green beans a nice, flavorful coating.
Lemon – We love the way a squeeze of fresh lemon will brighten up roasted veggies and it works perfectly with these green beans. You can skip it if you don’t love lemon.
How to air fry green beans:
Coat- Add your green beans to a bowl and drizzle oil over the top. Sprinkle them with your cheese, garlic powder, and salt, and toss to combine all the ingredients.
Cook- Place your green beans in an air fryer basket and cook at 380 degrees F for 8-10 minutes.
Serve- Remove the basket from the air fryer and squeeze fresh lemon over the green beans and serve them up.
FAQ:
You definitely can, but you’ll have two vastly different green bean recipes on your hands. These fresh green beans are tender crisp and nicely roasted. Canned green beans should be drained well and cooked until just heated through about 4-5 minutes. They’ll be warmed through, but still retain that soft cooked texture.
These green beans are very low in carbs, clocking in at just 6 net carbs per serving. We think that fits nicely in a keto diet.
Why We Love Air Frying Green Beans:
- They are a great tendercrisp texture.
- They have a nice roasted flavor.
- The seasonings are easily adjusted to our tastes or those of our guests.

I loved this. I may have cooked a little too long, they got chewy.
Hatjuggler says
Do you have to cook the green beans in a single layer?
Karly says
Nope, we don’t. You can shake the basket around while cooking a bit if you want, but we usually don’t.

Made them tonight. Delicious. I did shake the basket once. 😁

I have an air fryer but not with a basket (toaster oven kind).. oven temps are oven temps… then there is a dial for air fry … can’t adjust that temp… any suggestions?
Karly says
Hi Elyce! I’m sorry, I don’t know how all the different models work. You’d want to read your manual and see what that says.

thank you for responding – appreciate it~

i have a toaster oven with a convection setting, which is supposed to act like an air fryer, BUT IT DOES NOT. since there is no air circulation the bottoms of your food become soggy, so i don’t recommend using the convection setting as an alternate for air frying. however, you could just try the convection setting (or bake) at 380 degrees for 8 to 10 mins, give it a shake or toss ’em about halfway through.
