Close up of sliced garlic cheese bread.

Garlic bread is one of my family’s favorite foods, so it’s safe to say that I’ve perfected our recipe over the years. We like garlic bread that is extra rich and cheesy with plenty of garlic flavor shining through.

Sure you can make that frozen garlic bread and call it a day, and yeah – sometimes we do! That stuff is good too!

But if you’ve got an extra 2 minutes to stir together a few everyday ingredients, this air fryer garlic bread is going to blow your mind.

You’ll find a few surprising ingredients in this garlic cheese bread (mayo?! cream cheese?!) but please oh please just have a little faith. This decadent bread is worth trying – you’re going to love it!

This air fryer garlic bread goes great alongside our air fryer chicken parmesan or with some spaghetti topped with marinara and air fryer turkey meatballs!

Ingredient Notes:

Garlic cheese bread ingredients on a countertop.

Bread – We use a half loaf of French bread. This is a perfect size for our air fryer basket.

Cheese– We’re using a mixture of cream cheese (for the creaminess) and Parmesan (for the flavor).

Mayo – Seems an odd ingredient, but you don’t taste the mayo. It just makes the topping extra rich and creamy.

Seasonings– Butter, garlic, garlic powder, onion powder, and dried parsley are perfect for homemade garlic bread.

How to Make Garlic Bread in an Air Fryer:

Cheese mixture in a clear glass bowl.

Mix– Add your cheese, butter, mayo, and seasonings to a mixing bowl and stir to combine everything. It’ll be smooth and creamy.

French bread topped with a cheese mixture.

Prep the bread – Slice the bread in half lengthwise. Check to be sure the pieces fit in your air fryer and cut down the length if needed. Spread each piece of bread liberally with the garlic mixture. It’ll seem like a lot, but slather it all on.

Two halves of garlic cheese bread in an air fryer basket.

Air fry the bread– Put the two pieces of bread in your air fryer and air fry for 5-6 minutes at 380 degrees F. The bread should still be toasted around the edges, but soft in the center. The cheese will be warm and melty, with little golden bits on top.

FAQ:

What does garlic cheese bread go good with?

Pizza is a great pairing with garlic cheese bread. It also goes well with pasta. In the winter I really enjoy garlic cheese bread with a good soup!

How should I store leftover air fryer garlic bread?

We store the leftovers in the fridge, fully covered, and reheat them in the air fryer at 350 degrees for 3 minutes or until warmed through. This bread also freezes nicely.

Notes

You can't taste the mayonnaise in this bread – it just helps make the topping creamy. You could use extra cream cheese and skip the mayonnaise if you're not a fan of mayonnaise.

I bought some powdered cheddar by “Hoosier Hills Farms” from Amazon to flavor my popcorn and now to flavor the garlic bread.
All it takes is garlic powder, bread (any kind) margarine or mayo and the powdered cheese.
Again, I use a fryer with racks. 350f until the cheese turns from orange to a little brown. Don’t let it get away from you color wise.

I make the best pizza as well. Use the regular toppings, but the crust is NAAN bread. 400 degrees until the pepperonis starts to curl (about 5 minutes) and it is finished. Boy is it tasty. I also use a fryer with shelves.

You are not going to believe this one……………………..all it takes is garlic salt or just plain garlic powder , butter and a box of mac and cheese…say what?
Spread the butter, sprinkle on the garlic whatever, open the box of mac and cheese, save the “mac”, open the packet of cheese and sprinkle it on the bread. air fry same temp same time. done.
